In replacing the Lumina, which has had a rather lackluster career, Chevrolet decided to revivethe legendary Impala name. The new Impala four-door sedan is the first of the name with front-wheel drive. It shares its platform with the Grand Prix, Intrigue, Regal, Century and Monte Carloand can be equipped with either a 3.4-litre or 3.8-litre V-6 engine.Interior and trunkThe roomy cabin is easy to enter and exit, with generous head and leg room and comfortable,supportive seating for four adults of practically any size. Depending on the version, there is roomfor five or six, but the centre of the bench seats is not level with the other sections, and not ascomfortable.The huge trunk can hold an impressive quantity of cargo but the high liftover complicatesloading. Longer objects can be accommodated by folding the 60/40 split rear backrest.
